Limits Explained: Although remodeling projects may exceed the warranty limit the entire project will be covered. The claim limit is designed to help maintain the amount both the homeowner and contractor allow one another getting ahead of the other. For example a 50,000 dollar limit can be used on a 300,000 dollar project. The contractor should not perform and bill out 150,000 dollars without collecting 100,000 dollars of previously performed work. Nor should the client pay 150,000 dollars when only 50,000 dollars of the project has been performed. Should a dispute arise during the project, it may prevent the project from moving forward until the dispute has been resolved to maintain the limit on the risk.
